1948 Riley 2½ Litre Saloon Chassis No. 58S3742 (Feb. 2026)

The car was purchased about 20 years ago in a partially disassembled condition from South Australia. It is complete, but still dismantled and has been stored in secure dry conditions. The roof is very good and a new headlining has been fitted (20 years ago). Body timbers seem to be very good, and in the usual problem areas such as the rear window, and the A pillars, the timber seems very good. There is no apparent rust. Asking price is VERY reasonable, and this car is a very good restoration proposition. We believe this car is too good to break up for parts. Chassis Number is 58S3742. Phone Colin 0419932418
1928 Riley Nine Roadster (Australian Body) Chassis No. 603278 (Feb. 2026)

This car has been lovingly restored over many years after being discovered in Sydney. Its German Silver radiator was restored in the U.K. and the engine has been completely re-built, with new Arrow crankshaft and rods. The original heavy steel rear body section has been replaced in aluminium. The mechanicals have had many sensible modifications made to them, such as a higher ratio differential, and close-ratio gearbox. It is currently on Club Plates in Victoria. 1935 Riley Kestrel Chassis No. 22T1690 Jan.2026

The restoration of this car was completed many years ago by a previous owner who replaced most of the ash frame, fitted a totally new interior, had the engine re-built, replaced the bands in the Pre-Selecta gearbox, and had the car re-painted in its original colour scheme. I purchased the car in 2004 and since then, the following extra work has been carried out: Engine has been rebuilt with new Argo con rods with slipper bearings, neoprene rear main oil seal, twin 1 ½” SU carburettors fitted to Sprite log manifold, exhaust extractors, high compression pistons, camshaft grind for better performance, rear axles replaced, all four splined hubs replaced, all wheel bearings replaced and a Davies Craig electric water pump fitted. The preselector gearbox has also been fully reconditioned including needle roller bearings replacing the bronze bushes. A single plate flywheel with teeth cut into perimeter has also replaced the heavy cast iron flywheel and clutch assembly. A 4.55: 1 crown wheel and pinion has been fitted and the bearings in the differential and torque tube have also been replaced. The generator has been converted to an alternator. A year ago, I fitted four new (plus new spare) Firestone tyres. A Davies Craig thermatic fan has also now been fitted to work in conjunction with the already fitted Davies Craig electric water pump. The Kestrel drives very well and will comfortably sit on 100 kph on the freeway and with the preselector gearbox is a pleasure to drive. If you are anxious about driving with a preselector gearbox, I will teach you.
